“Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you,
I will give people in exchange for you, Nations in exchange for your life.”
Isaiah 43:4 NIV
As we observe the world today, we can sense, see and feel a degree of hate rising to levels that are unimaginable. From state-to-state, country-to-country, and nation-to-nation, violence has known no boundaries.
Specifically, violence in the name of religion has drastically risen, permeating even through the hallowed walls of public places of worship.
It is the emotion of fear that fuels a person to cut down what one thinks may spread by gaining strength and size. It is a preemptive strike based on a lack of understanding against that which is capable of growing, maturing, and expanding in number and influence.
The innocent become victims and the faithful become targets.
Through it all, we must meditate on the unchanging Word of God delivered to us to be the stabilizing foundation for our lives.
The Bible is a Book of God’s Revelations and God’s Reminders.
It was provided for our reference and our reflection.
It is to incite from us a reaction and a response to the matters of this world.
Soviet Chess grandmaster Efim Geller once said about the game in which he loved, “It so often happens that, after sacrificing a pawn, a player aims not to obtain the initiative for it, but to regain sacrificial material.”
As children adopted into the family of God, your hope should rest on the promises of God that have been extended to you through Jesus Christ.
God wanted His children to reflect on His Covenant which passed from Abraham, through Issac, then along to Jacob, and providentially onto them even in the midst of bondage, violence, suffering, and wars.
And this is the reason why we are to have a hopeful response to the issues of the world today because God has promised to those who believe in Him that He will “never leave you nor forsake you” despite what may be transpiring around you.
Calvary was not in vain.
Jesus’ life was sacrificed so that you could be restored from your separation from God for the rest of eternity.
Our Redeeming Father views His children as precious, honored, and loved. Therefore, God will always bring back into His comforting arms those who believe but lack faith, those who trust in Him but experience moments of fear, and even those whom He has called but have resisted His overtures.
God may harden the hearts of the leaders of certain states, countries, and nations who want to stifle the Message of the Gospel simply so that He can stir the hearts of those who fervently desire to see the glory of His Kingdom come to pass.
Every move that our Redeeming Father makes is a movement with purpose.
The chess master does not sacrifice a pawn to lose the game that he loves. He does it to inch closer to his ultimate goal.
You are to praise God in the midst of what He is doing. Even if you do not fully comprehend the ending, give thanks to God for your understanding of what He is doing in the present.
Let the redeemed of the Lord say so!
God Bless,
