“But can the ax boast greater power than the person who uses it?
Is the saw greater than the person who saws?
Can a rod strike unless a hand moves it?
Can a wooden cane walk by itself?”
Isaiah 10:15 NLT
When a music artist releases a song, they are required to list everyone who contributed to the final outcome of the production. From the writers, to the composers, to the background singers, to the instrument players, etc., the artist must give attestation to everyone who has helped to publish the work.
The music artist is usually the one who receives all of the credit but there were many involved who made it possible for the song to come to fruition.
The artist is the one who is seen, heard, and gains recognition and fame while the ones who were behind the scenes usually remain forever in obscurity.
This is the case not only in music, but in most forms of entertainment as well.
By themselves, an artist may simply be a person who possesses a natural talent but has no direction, guidance, or instruction to become all that they are truly capable of being.
Therefore, it is fitting for them to acknowledge those who help them to become who they are, not out of legalities, stipulations, or mandates from industry rules and regulations, but out of sheer appreciation, respect, and gratitude for those who made it possible for them to reach the heights which they attained.
This needs to be the mindset adopted by the Christian believer in our relationship with God.
We are beings empowered by the Mind, Will, and Strength of God.
God is Omnipotent which means that all power, might, and authority belong to Him. It is God Who enables us to become the person who we are today and the person who we will become in the future.
Giving credit to anyone or anything—including ourselves—for what we achieve is simply idolatry.
It is commonplace in the world today to praise ourselves for our accomplishments seeing as how we are the ones to put forth the effort to bring things to pass.
However, as French theologian Blaise Pascal strongly cautioned, “There is nothing so abominable in the eyes of God and of men as idolatry, whereby men render to the creature that honor which is due only to the Creator.”
There is absolutely nothing wrong with taking satisfaction in our feats.
God’s Omnipotence is not just over those who believe in Him. It is over all.
Those in the world today, whether believers or non-believers, are being used and directed for the fulfillment of God’s plans and purposes.
Although we cannot fully comprehend the magnitude of God’s Omnipotence, when we begin to understand the limitless capabilities of His power, we start to realize that He is working all situations through you for His good pleasure.
Therefore, realize that even in the midst of your darkest days and moments, God, through His omnipotence, is strengthening you to accomplish every purpose which He has for your life.
God Bless,
